Hi there! I am Anna, and I'm so glad you're here. As a registered dietitian and certified intuitive eating counsellor I specialize in supporting folx of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds find peace with food and their bodies. I take a weight inclusive and trauma-informed approach, focusing on cultivating a positive and healthy relationship with food and your body, rather than trying to achieve a specific weight or shape. I know that there is a lot of stigma and discrimination around larger bodies and I strive to create a safer and more supportive environment for all of my clients. My goal is to be your guide as you (re)learn to listen to your body's signals of hunger and fullness, and as you (re)build trust in yourself to make food choices that feel good and nourishing for you in your body. I also incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion practices in order to embody a holistic approach that encompasses physical, mental and emotional health. I would be honoured to meet you, and support you on your journey to a more positive and peaceful relationship with food and your body.
As a registered dietitian, I have always been passionate about health, food and well-being. I aim to help my clients to develop a healthy relationship with food and balanced eating habits through a realistic and personalized approach as well as to prevent and manage chronic diseases. As an avid sports enthusiast, I understand the energy requirements and the body's needs to perform well in sports such as skiing, running, team and individual sports. In Canada, there is sometimes a difference between the terms Dietitian and nutritionist. While both titles can be use interchangeably in some provinces, this is not the case in others.
The title ‘Dietitian’ is protected by law across Canada in every province. The term ‘nutritionist’ however, is only a protected title in Alberta, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Only nutrition professionals who are regulated and have protected titles have a legal scope of practice which includes: providing individualized nutrition counselling, medical nutrition therapy, and nutrition education to individuals with specific health concerns.
That said, while the term "nutritionist" is sometimes used on this website, it is important to note that we only work with licensed Registered Dietitians in good standing with their provincial regulatory bodies. That means you can be assured that all of our partners providing nutrition counselling meet the education and ethical standards set by all of the provincial regulatory bodies across Canada.
